Your primary role is to win consultancy work for Industrial projects for the company in Malaysia. This could include consultancy in Architectural, Building Services, Sustainability, Design for Safety, Project Management, Cost Management, and Construction Management. To achieve your primary role, you would be expected to understand the dynamics and growth of the Industrial market in Malaysia and globally, establish networking and professional relationships with Industrial clients, and identify market growth and opportunities to pursue Request for Proposals (RFP). You are also required to drive the bid process with the bid team, be involved in the selection of candidates for the project team, prepare proposals, attend interviews/presentations, and ultimately position the company to win projects.

Your secondary role is to set up and lead the projects that are won until the project team can run seamlessly and subsequently act as a Client Liaison to maintain the client relationship for the project.

In addition, you should help manage existing clients. You will collaborate with business unit heads, account managers, and the Regional Director to clarify customer requirements and identify appropriate resources and team support to develop, package, and price custom solutions. You will actively participate in business development activities by identifying opportunities to connect with potential customers and/or business partners and implementing business development strategies. You will also develop marketing strategies to strengthen the pipeline of new and existing businesses through direct or indirect customer contact.

Maintaining rapport with potential and existing clients will be key, and you will be expected to network extensively outside of the office to develop business relationships. Travel will be required for the role.

Responsibilities
  • Research prospective accounts in targeted markets, pursue leads, and follow through to a successful agreement.
  • Conduct market studies of targeted sectors including competitors and proposed geographical expansion strategy.
  • Identify business opportunities by evaluating prospects and their position in the industry, local operations footprint, growth mission, company contacts, and market strategies to attract clients.
  • Maintain relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance.
  • Provide feedback on potential customers and members to enhance service delivery.
  • Monitor and report on potential collaborators and competitor activities, identifying business threats and opportunities.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Communicate complicated technical issues effectively, with strong presentation skills.
  • Lead bid preparation, submission, and presentations.
  • Participate in negotiating agreement terms and closing sales.
  • Meet deadlines while working under pressure.
  • Set up the project until the project team is established, after which assume the role of Client Liaison.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or other relevant fields.
  • More than 15 years of experience in business development, with experience in at least 1 greenfield and 1 brownfield data center project.
  • Experience in bidding for projects with a track record of success.
  • Understanding of Industrial projects and ability to articulate this knowledge to others.
  • Expertise with MEP works is advantageous (especially mechanical and/or electrical).
  • Relevant qualifications and accreditations will be advantageous, especially related to industrial projects.
  • Ability to manage complex solution selling.
  • Ability to build client relationships.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Strong communication skills with external and internal stakeholders.
