JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Safety Officer oversees adherence to occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations within a workplace, ensuring a safe environment. They advise on safety protocols, perform risk assessments, and enforce preventive measures to promote workplace safety.

Their main objective is to establish a compliant and secure workplace environment while fostering a culture of health and safety awareness.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the development of OHS policies and programs
  • Provide guidance and instruction on various safety topics (e.g., noise levels, machinery use)
  • Perform risk assessments and enforce preventive measures
  • Review and update existing policies and procedures in line with legislation
  • Coordinate and conduct OHS training for employees and management
  • Conduct inspections to identify issues or noncompliance (e.g., inadequate use of protective equipment)
  • Supervise installations, maintenance, and disposal of substances
  • Intervene to halt unsafe acts or processes
  • Document and investigate incidents to determine root causes and manage worker's compensation claims
  • Prepare incident reports and deliver statistical data to senior management

JOB REQUIREMENT:

  • Proven experience as
    SAFETY OFFICER:
  • In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Diligent with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
  • BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety

Pay:
