Job Purpose

As a key member of the Sime Darby Property team, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing the carbon management team to develop and implement strategies that reduce the Group's energy use and carbon footprint. You will work closely with the General Manager (Sustainability) to support business decarbonization efforts and provide expertise on climate change, energy legislation, and policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and monitor Net Zero carbon reduction pathways and targets, and report on the organization's progress towards Net Zero.
  • Lead the development of the Group's renewable energy, energy efficiency, and carbon management policy, as well as urban biodiversity frameworks and policies.
  • Facilitate the implementation of energy and carbon strategies across all Business Units.
  • Provide technical advice on energy legislation, policy, and operating procedures to support corporate carbon targets.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to deliver outcomes and agreed milestones, and develop strategic partnerships and collaborations for climate change projects.
  • Support the General Manager (Sustainability) in data preparation and reporting of Net Zero progress and biodiversity updates.
  • Develop a Supply Chain/LCA Carbon Management product roadmap in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Sustainability team to deliver energy and sustainability awareness and behavioral change initiatives across the University.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Sustainability-related technical, scientific, specialized, or operational field (environment, engineering, science, or similar).
  • Professional certification in ESG, carbon management, and reporting.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies or post-graduate degrees.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a sustainability-related position, with experience leading, developing, and delivering high-performing projects, teams, and complex operations in the Sustainability field.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of energy and carbon management projects, managing specific energy efficiency work programs, and preparing risk assessments in line with agreed targets and plans.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing carbon appraisals, audits, surveys, feasibility studies, corporate carbon reporting (energy and carbon metrics), and life-cycle assessments of renewable/low carbon technologies.
  • Experience in carbon accounting, analysis, and interpretation of datasets, and use of data visualization tools to enable the reporting of complex information to strategic leaders and decision makers.
Essential Skills/Knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of the case for climate change mitigation and adaptation, and ability to communicate this effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Detailed knowledge of carbon management, the energy sector, renewable energy, and energy efficiencies within discrete projects and at scale.
  • Evidence of effective collaboration and partnership working with external stakeholders that deliver outcomes and agreed milestones.
  • Ability to apply managerial judgement to ensure service area objectives are achieved.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with ability to achieve results for multiple, simultaneous projects with competing demands.
  • Excellent ICT abilities and good working knowledge of innovative technologies, ability to use multiple systems and software applications.
