Job Summary

As a key member of the Zurich Australian Insurance Ltd. team, the Strategic Business Unit Director will be responsible for managing and directing employees in the sale and distribution of products and services to achieve and sustain profitable growth. This includes writing new business, retaining existing accounts, providing quality service, increasing market share and product mix while operating within company guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Selects, trains, develops, and coaches team members, assessing their performance and providing recommendations on other human resource issues.
  • Manages the sales and service activities of the management team to increase new business and retention in all account product offerings.
  • Manages operations for cost efficiency, continuously evaluating opportunities to reduce costs and improve operations, and monitors and maintains expenses within approved budget.
  • Manages the Customer Service Index program to ensure results are reported to senior management.
Business Objectives
  • Manage relationships with key customers and areas of responsibility.
  • Develop or enable the development of new and expanding business opportunities.
  • Utilize a network of contacts with specialized expertise as needed.
  • Identify opportunities and risks associated with changes in the external environment, looking forward 1-2 years.
  • Design, recommend, and implement changes to processes and systems.
  • Develop and implement annual budgets for areas of responsibility.
  • Set and execute operational objectives and plans aligned to the company strategy.
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation, implementation, and communication of established policy, procedures, and operating standards are completed for areas of responsibility.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate activities to identify potential risks and issues of non-compliance.
  • Participate in or lead risk assessments for areas of responsibility and escalate potential issues to higher management.
Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience in sales.
  • 2 or more years of direct sales experience.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and financial reports.

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of sales principles, techniques, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of customers' business and operations.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Licensed to sell insurance products.
