Job Summary

The Senior Account Payable is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the organization. The major role includes supervising staff, as well as analyzing, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Invoice Review and Verification: Review and verify all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
  2. Accounts Payable Processing: Process 3-way P.O. matching invoices and enter them into the system.
  3. Vendor Communication: Respond to all vendor inquiries.
  4. Reconciliation and Dispute Resolution: Reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct/resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
  5. Month-End Closing Support: Assist in month-end closing.
  6. Compliance and Auditing: Provide supporting documentation for audits.
  7. File Maintenance: Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  8. Accounting Entries and Administration: Perform accounting entries and other related accounts administrative tasks.
  9. Accounts Payable Process Support: Assist with the end-to-end accounts payable process.
  10. Staff Supervision: Supervise Accounts Payable staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Banking/Commerce.
  2. Work Ethic: Strong work ethic.
  3. Organization and Self-Motivation: Well organized and a self-starter.
  4. Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
  5. Technical Skills: Proficient in Excel.
  6. Organizational and Time Management Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills.
  7. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of basic accounting principles, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis, and multi-tasking skills.
  8. Supervisory Skills: Strong supervisory skills with the ability to train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  9. Knowledge of Accounts Payable Systems: Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts.
  10. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.
  12. Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
