Chemist

**LOCATION: BUKIT MENGAPUR, MUKIM HULU LEPAR, 26500, DAERAH KUANTAN**

The Chemist is responsible for conducting daily tests, laboratory support functions and assisting the laboratory manager with specific tasks as assigned, including the following
- Reviewing all mineral reports prior to handing over to the Laboratory Manager to finalize the report.
- Conduct test methods Assessment (TMA).
- Support the objectives of the laboratory to achieve operational excellence.
- Support, response and resolution of corrective and preventive actions
- Provide guidance and training to laboratory technicians on proper analytical techniques and procedures
- Additional technical support and guidance for laboratory staff
- Support in updating the custodian file and preparing documentation
- Assist the laboratory manager in the preparation of SOP and work instructions for all mineral tests in the laboratory
- Support chemical analyses and experiments by following quality procedures
- Maintain and calibrate equipment as internally to support test procedures
- Ability to perform complex calculations
- Identify equipment that should be repaired or replaced and recommend appropriate purchases
- Carry out method validation/verification for mineral samples according to the standard method at HQ or in the on-site laboratory.
- Supervise the on-site laboratory to ensure that all technical requirements specified by the geologist/mining engineer/management are met.
- Monitor the laboratory's chemical inventory and liaise with Lab Manager if the laboratory requires new chemicals for method validation

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in chemistry or a related field
- 1 - 2 years of experience working in a mineral laboratory setting
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and safety regulations
- Experience using analytical equipment such as XRF, AAS, and ICP spectrometers

**Job Type**: Permanent

Pay: RM2,900.00 - RM3,700.00 per month
