Job Description**
Position Overview**
- To carry out scheduled maintenance and repairs on the rail grinder fleet. To maximise machine availability.
- **
This role has Heavy Travel**
- To drive, operate and maintain Switch Rail Grinding Machine/Metro Grinder as required

**Responsibilities**:

- Report any defects found on machine & carry out repairs within required competency level for the role, as directed.
- Assist Grinder Technician with required tasks.
- Carry out planned maintenance duties in line with company policies, procedures and work instructions.
- Inform supervisor of any issues / problems in a timely manner, which are outside your remit of control.
- Operate machine for maintenance purposes.
- Ensure regularly updated and compliant with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular contact with railway representative, machine manager and team members.
- Provide reports information as required by Machine Manager.
- Comply with all statutory and company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all machine defects are reported and rectified.
- Operate Switch Rail Grinding Machine or Metro Grinder in line with procedures.
- Communicate with client safety representative.
- To learn and maintain routes as identified by the Machine Manager.
- Manage machine stock levels.
- Work away from home as required.

Qualifications**
Education**:

- Diploma in Polytechnic or Mechanical | Electronics | Electrical Engineer from a recognized University.
- Ability to communicate in English
**Experience**:

- Preferred recognised qualification in mechanical / electrical / maintenance engineering or a minimum of two years’ experience
- Experience in Manual handling of machines, Abrasive Grinding wheels
**Technical Skills**:

- Basic knowledge and understanding in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems and ability to work under instruction.
- Good knowledge of track geometry and parameters.
- Calibration and understanding of railways operating systems.
- Risk assessing.
**Additional Requirements**:

- Full valid driving Licence as applicable.Additional Information**
