Industrial Designer

**Job Descriptions**

1. To use broadly based industrial design skill to design new furniture and related products for industrial, commercial, domestic clients and Kokuyo Japan.

2. To assist to create new concepts, customization product & designs and improving existing designs resulting in balance innovative design, functional requirement and aesthetic appeal.

3. To consider factors influencing product design such as cost, selection of materials, production methods, new technology, safety, fashion trends, ergonomics, environment, marketing and business strategies.

4. To contribute positively towards achieving the departmental objectives, improving the level of efficiency in product realization and utilizing the existing available facilities within the company.

5. To design drawings and detailed diagram of products and performing 3D/2D, fit / clearance and interference.

6. To maintain drawing and records pertaining to product design and revision.

7. To carry out other additional duties for company when required and directed by superiors.

8. To construct of models or samples of products and carry out testing for functionality, quality and consumer appeal.

9. To test products concept using sketches, prototypes and computer aided design.

10. To ensure the security and confidentiality of documents in relation to product design engineering drawing and control of product design.

11. To create bill of material (BOM) list according to the product design.

12. To support the management to handle customer complain.

13. To communicate and liaise with customer and other departments (Production Control, QA, Sales & Production) in product realization.

14. To follow, maintain and improve all requirements as per procedure outlined under the Environmental Management System (EMS), Quality Management System (QMS), Safety and Health Procedures and 5S.

**Job Requirement**

2. At least 2-3 years’ experience working in Research & Development.

3. Shall have working experience in manufacturing of metal, steel, wood and plastic office furniture industries.

4. Mid-high level of proficiency in CAD & 3D design software, especially AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

5. Able to speak & write Japanese language will be added advantage.

6. Able to work independently with mínimal supervision

7. Must be a creative, motivated and flexible team player; able to carry tasks and projects to completion.

8. Must be accurate, details and focus.

9. Excellent communication with customer and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters
