Position**:Welding Inspector**at **MRA International Sdn Bhd**
1. Perform quality control functions during minor fabrication and installation works carried out by COMPANY's contractors at onshore, offshore locations, and on the Integrated Topside Maintenance vessel to ensure compliance with COMPANY’s specifications. This scope includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1.1 Material inspection, verification, and traceability checks.
1.2 Verification of valid Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and qualified welders.
1.3 Assist in reviewing welding and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) procedures developed by COMPANY's contractors.
1.4 Perform welding inspections, including preparation, in-process monitoring, and post-weld completion checks.
1.5 Ensure all NDT requirements comply with specifications. Consult the COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE before approving any waivers or alternative NDT tests.
1.6 Conduct visual inspections and perform conventional NDT methods such as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI), and thorough visual checks using standard inspection tools.
1.7 Witness all welding repairs and subsequent NDTs.
1.8 Perform dimensional checks on sub-assemblies and complete assemblies of fabricated items to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
1.9 Review and approve all Radiographic Test (RT) films and reports.
1.10 Witness all integrity tests, including hydrostatic tests.
1.11 Witness special welding processes such as Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT).
1.12 Compile inspection reports and punch lists of outstanding items.
2. Perform ad-hoc inspections to assess the extent of damage or sudden failures to production facilities and conduct follow-up inspections for repair works.
2.1 Identify requirements for NDTs such as radiography, ultrasonic testing, or other tests to verify weldment integrity.
2.2 Review and approve all radiographic test results.
2.3 Review and compile fabrication documents.
2.4 Issue completion reports.
3. Upon completion of each inspection activity, prepare and compile reports as per COMPANY requirements.
4. Final reports shall be concise, accurate, and written in English. They must include recommendations and photographs of defective, deteriorated, or inspected areas, along with relevant line works, structural drawings, or sketches.
5. All inspection reports must be completed within the timeframe specified by COMPANY. These reports serve as documented evidence of completed inspection cycles and are critical references for other COMPANY departments in engineering, planning, and decision-making processes.
6. Check and calibrate all inspection tools and equipment before use. Report defective tools and equipment to COMPANY for rectification or replacement. Ensure all inspection tools and equipment are properly maintained, in good working condition, and fit for their intended purposes.
7. Actively participate in technical discussions with other COMPANY departments, particularly regarding inspection findings.
8. Upon completion of each inspection activity, prepare and compile reports as per COMPANY requirements.
**A) Qualification**
1. Minimum SPM or equivalent academic qualification.
2. Possess a valid certification of API 570, API 510, or API 653 with a minimum of 8 years of experience in oil and gas inspection,
OR
Possess a valid certification of CSWIP/PCN Senior Welding Inspector (Level 3.2) with a minimum of 10 years of experience in oil and gas inspection,
OR
Possess a valid certification of CSWIP/PCN Welding Inspector (Level 3.1) with a minimum of 12 years of experience in oil and gas inspection.
**B) Attributes**
3. Preferably have relevant onshore and offshore working experience as a General or Welding Inspector.
4. Have a sound knowledge of international standards and codes related to the oil and gas industry, including structures, pipelines, pressure vessels, and process facilities (e.g., ASME, AWS, API, ASTM, SSPC, BGAS, and NACE standards) and statutory body (DOSH) regulations related to corrosion control and monitoring activities.
5. Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
6. Be fully conversant with engineering drawings, mechanical catalogs, general arrangement (GA) drawings, P&ID, and other related drawings required for installation works.
7. Be able to review, comment on, and approve inspection reports prepared by inspectors.
8. Possess computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
9. Have demonstrated competence in technical report writing, technical presentations, and the ability to perform work with a high degree of initiative.
10. Be able to solve problems and perform work under pressure with a high degree of efficiency.
11. Have leadership qualities and be able to supervise other inspection personnel and organize work effectively.
12. Have a good command of both written and spoken Malay and English.
