Legumes Catering is looking for a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our culinary team. As a Commis Chef, you will assist in the preparation of high-quality dishes and contribute to creating memorable dining experiences for our clients. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic individual looking to expand their culinary skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients, mise en place, and cooking under the guidance of senior chefs.

Menu Support: Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef in executing menu items according to recipes and quality standards.

Food Safety and Hygiene: Maintain strict hygiene and safety standards by following food safety protocols, including ISO 22000, HACCP, and Halal certification requirements.

Plating and Presentation: Ensure that dishes are prepared and presented according to the company’s aesthetic standards.

Kitchen Organization: Keep workstations clean and organized, ensuring efficient workflow during service.

Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring stock levels, reporting shortages, and ensuring proper storage of ingredients and supplies.

Team Support: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and provide support during peak service times or catering events.

Continuous Learning: Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques, and show willingness to learn from senior chefs and participate in training sessions.

Key Qualifications

Educational Background: Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts or a related field.

Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a catering or high-volume food service environment.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with basic cooking methods (e.g., sautéing, grilling, baking, boiling) and knife skills.

Knowledge of Cuisine: Interest or experience in a range of cuisines, especially those suitable for Malaysian and international palettes.

Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality, presentation, and consistency in food preparation.

Physical Requirements
