The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) is responsible for performing laboratory tests, preparing materials for practical classes and research, and maintaining laboratory equipment. This role ensures laboratory operations are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with safety, hygiene, and quality standards. The MLT also supports teaching and research activities while maintaining proper laboratory upkeep and inventory management.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare, set up, and manage laboratory practical sessions, including standing by during classes and cleaning up afterward.
- Assist lecturers and researchers in teaching and demonstrating medical laboratory procedures.
- Prepare specimens, perform diagnostic laboratory tests, and generate accurate reports of findings.
- Conduct daily laboratory clean-up after the last practical session: clean benches and sinks, wash glassware, dispose of waste, turn off electrical, gas, and water supplies, lock doors, and empty biohazard and sharp bins.
- Perform regular stock checks and replenish laboratory materials as needed.
- Maintain laboratories in good condition through general upkeep on a weekly basis.
- Carry out equipment maintenance on a monthly basis to ensure proper functioning.
- Ensure zero breakage and pilferage within the laboratory.
- Record, analyze, and report laboratory results accurately.
- Provide technical guidance to students on laboratory techniques and best practices.
- Stay updated on current developments and advancements in medical laboratory practices.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the laboratory manager.
