FWD Technology and Innovation Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., known as FWD TIM, was set up in late 2019 and is part of the FWD Group. FWD TIM in Malaysia is one of the FWD Group’s office locations serving multiple markets within FWD Group and employing team members in various functions including Group Digital & Data, Digital Innovation, the IT Hub and our Centre of Excellence comprising Actuarial, Finance and Product Proposition functions.

Purpose
- Lead database design and implementation projects.
- Manage database security and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Develop and implement database policies and procedures.
- Manage database backups and disaster recovery plans.
- Drive the overall database strategy for the organization.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Setup standard, SOW and support model on DB services of different cloud platforms (Azure, AWS and MongoDB Atlas).

Key accountabilities
- Act as the Database team lead for management and support of FWD IT Database system, services availability, capacity and 7x24 hours support.
- Ensure that databases meet business requirements and performance standards.
- Stay up-to-date with compliance regulations and ensure that databases meet all requirements.
- Ensure that backups are performed regularly and can be restored if necessary.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the database infrastructure to meet business needs.
- Mentor junior team members to help them develop their skills and advance in their careers.
- Develop and deliver training programs to help team members stay up-to-date with new technologies and best practices.
- Provide support and consultancy on DB solutions, build a framework for standardizing DBs, govern the standards, evaluate related technologies and communicate with vendor.
- Design the database architecture that leverages innovative technologies and cloud services. Evaluate new database technologies and plan and implement Technology Refreshment program.
- Align personal development plan with business objectives and embrace the transformation to move the team/department forward.

- Service Level Management - Database service availability in accordance with Service targets, and management of incidents.
- Manage cloud migration projects.
- Implement IT Projects and Support Existing multiple Business Units
- Support New Business Unit Build-up & other Group Initiatives
- Compliance to IT Risk & Security policies

Qualifications / experience
- Degree holder in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent with more than 6 years of database administration experience gained in sizable organization.
- Holder of professional qualification(s) preferred e.g. Azure, MCSE(Database Platform) and MongoDB certificates.

Knowledge & technical skills
- At least 5 years hands-on experience in database administration with MS SQL 2014/2016/2019
- Experience to manage DB on cloud and SaaS (Software as a Service)
- Knowledge on MongoDB, Mysql DB2 and Postgres DB knowledge are added on.
- Hands-on experience in database installation, backup & recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, database monitoring, data replication and database encryption
- Proficient in database design and problem solving of database problem and incident management.
- Able to work independent, self-motivated and willing to take challenges.
- Able to communicate with colleagues and mentor other teammates.
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good command of written English and Chinese; fluent in spoken English.
