We are looking for a meticulous & proactive Purchasing Manager for our newly established heavy machinery assembly factory in Seremban - Sendayan Techvalley for the underground load & haul equipment.

About the Division

The Load & Haul Division, the home of Sandvik loaders and trucks for underground mining business. Here we are safer, stronger, and smarter, as we like to say it. We have been the market leader by accelerating diesel and battery-electric equipment development, with sharpened priorities. We work in close co-operation with the sales areas within the Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions Business Area, to provide the best possible service to our customers. Load & Haul home base is located in Turku, Finland. Additionally, we have operations in Camarillo, USA and Changzhou, China as well in Seremban, Malaysia.

Do we share the same goals?

In this position your primary responsibility to manage, develop direct material purchases & its operational processes at Seremban factory. Besides maintaining good supplier on-time-delivery, days-in-inventory and supplier cooperation including forecasting and lead-times. Additionally, ensure networking capital is lower and material resources planning is according to business needs.
- Establish and develop purchasing activities - work with suppliers and other functions internally
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of purchasing operations
- Responsible for component purchases & material flows from suppliers to factory
- Responsible to improve inventory turns, supplier delivery accuracy, lowering net working capital, developing modern procure-to-pay process, & securing shortage free production
- Ensure efficiency & timelines of material flows for both internal & external customers
- Ensuring supplier capacity and continuous co-operation
- Participate & support sourcing team in supplier tenders & contract negotiations for the need of purchasing & production function
- Responsible for Purchasing organization’s cost budget & other financial controls
- Collaborate broader supply chain & operations team to streamline workflows
- Stay abreast on the latest developments & requirements set by authorities - MIDA, Customs, etc
- Securing that Sandvik's EHS policies and targets are followed
- Ensure Sandvik Way of Working procedures are in place and always adhered
- Participate in implementation and understand SAP module S/4 Hana, ARIBA system
- Battery technology background considered an advantage

Your background and what we find important

This role would be ideal for someone looking to further develop & stay motivated for new challenges to enhance expertise in the purchasing or procurement area. As a person you have excellent communication and customer relationship skills, strategic, resourceful and deliver as required, fluent English speaking with a minimum 10 years’ experience in supply chain of heavy machineries assembly / manufacturing environment or equivalent, familiar with LMW setup, expert of SAP S/4 Hana & Ariba system utilization related to procurement function, expert of regional supply base, expert in dealing with local regulators (Customs, MITI, MIDA) etc. Suitable degree or any education certificate from technical & vocational institutions.
