Power & Energy
SMEC is a global provider of engineering, environmental and construction services, consolidating all aspects of Energy and Renewables Infrastructure from planning to delivery. Our expertise includes grid connection studies, substation design, policy and sector planning, carbon services, load forecasting models, and long-term generation planning using simulation and dynamic programming techniques. We have delivered stand-alone and grid-tie photovoltaic and solar thermal projects, ‘water to wire’ services on mini and micro-hydro projects, geothermal power plants and generation facilities.
The Role
We’re seeking to engage a Regional Manager - Transmission & Distribution (T&D), who will provide leadership and operational direction to the activities of the Power & Gas Transmission & Distribution SEA (Southeast Asia) Region. You’ll ensure the operational & technical excellence and performance of the Transmission & Distribution SEA Region with the effect of growing the SJ Group Infrastructure function through optimal people, commercial, business development, client relationship management and project performance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide operational, technical and business development direction for the sub sector in the SEA Region to support SJ Group’s vision and values.
- Cultivate Client relationships and actively pursue and win new project opportunities
- Manage the profit and loss for the sub sector in the SEA Region.
- Ensure capability development and mobilisation of Regional sub sector resources, while effectively managing and leading a team of nominated direct reports to ensure optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development.
- As PM/Project Director for assigned projects, ensure projects are completed to the required standard on time and budget while maintaining client satisfaction
About You
Suitable applicants will be/have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (essential)
- Post graduate qualifications in appropriate discipline (highly regarded)
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team effectively for high performance and cohesion
- Circa 10-15 year’ experience in managing large scale multi-disciplinary projects successfully, to budget and client specifications
- Thorough understanding of the external market and skills to translate this knowledge to strategies, projects and people.
- High level communication skills, including negotiating and resolving highly complex commercial, technical and people matters.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and theories and capacity for continuous learning
- Ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams across multiple locations
- Actively participates in industry forums and workshops.
- Strong leadership and motivational ability
- Analytical, conceptual and creative thinking, coupled with customer orientation, proven management skills and commercial and business awareness.
