Sample Technician

**WHAT IS ON OFFER**

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Sample Technician to join the team. We require a suitably experienced Sample Technician to be employed at our operations in Bintulu, Sarawak Malaysia. You will be responsible for operating sample preparation and physical testing equipment and undertaking field sampling activities in support of our client’s requirements in the region. This is a hands-on role requiring a practical, pragmatic and flexible approach, in all aspects, to ensure successful team working. Successful applicants will need to be able to work unsupervised from time to time on a shift pattern which includes nights, weekends and public holidays.

Main Responsibilities
- Providing the laboratory with on time sample delivery to meet the client’s requirements.
- Perform physical testing in accordance with the quality system and AHK quality system - procedures include Total Moisture, Sizing, Durability, Bulk Density, Particle Size Distribution on Biomass Products.
- Comply with all local environmental, employment and health and safety legislation
- Support business development activities within the region where appropriate
- Must be physically fit and able to manually handle bulk samples of various masses.
- Processing and maintaining data accurately and unsupervised in preparation of results being checked and authorised prior to reporting.
- Taking part in extended training programmes that will ensure that the post holder is sufficiently well trained to carry out their responsibilities accurately and efficiently.
- Ensuring that all housekeeping is maintained at all times.
- Ensure that Routine Operator Maintenance is carried out on all equipment in compliance with manufacturers operating guidelines.
- Maintain a professional standard and appearance while promoting the company when on company business.
- Any other duties as delegated by Management from time to time.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

**Essential**
- Demonstrated experience in a laboratory or production environment specifically with manual sampling and sample preparation in relation to biomass, coal, or agricultural products.
- Essential to be able to read, write and speak English and have reasonable ability with numbers.
- Essential basic computer literacy, Microsoft excel, Word.
- Preferably a valid driver’s licence.
