Site Safety Supervisor Authorised Gas Tester

**Position Overview**:
The Site Safety Supervisor Cum Authorised Gas Tester (AGTES) is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel working on-site, particularly in environments where gas hazards are present. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols, gas detection equipment, and emergency procedures. The incumbent will oversee site operations to mitigate risks associated with gas exposure and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Safety Oversight**:

- Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations at the worksite.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Provide safety training and awareness programs for on-site personnel to enhance safety consciousness and promote best practices.
- **Gas Testing and Monitoring**:

- Perform routine gas testing and monitoring activities using specialized equipment to detect the presence of hazardous gases in the work environment.
- Interpret gas monitoring results and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks, including evacuation procedures if necessary.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of gas detection equipment to maintain accuracy and reliability.
- **Emergency Response**:

- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for gas-related incidents, including procedures for evacuation, containment, and notification of relevant authorities.
- Coordinate emergency drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of response protocols and improve preparedness among site personnel.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of gas testing results, safety inspections, incidents, and near-misses for regulatory compliance and internal reporting purposes.
- Prepare detailed incident reports, including root cause analysis and recommendations for corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- **Communication and Collaboration**:

- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate safety requirements into project plans and workflows.
- Communicate safety expectations and requirements to subcontractors, vendors, and other external parties involved in site activities.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement through effective communication and engagement with all stakeholders.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Certified as an Authorised Gas Tester (AGTES) with demonstrated proficiency in gas detection and monitoring techniques.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the construction, oil and gas, petrochemical, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, HSE).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey safety-related information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to make timely and sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in using gas detection equipment and safety systems.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
