**Job Overview/Summary**

The Cultural Orientation (CO) Trainer is primarily responsible for preparing approved refugees for resettlement to the United States through student-centered instruction. The position is responsible for implementing curriculum developed by RSC in accordance with common CO guidelines, such as those developed by the Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange (CORE), as well as assisting with the development and maintenance of curriculum materials as needed. The CO Trainer works closely with the RSC Asia CO team and reports to the CO Manager.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Conduct CO training sessions for refugee adults, youth, children, groups with special needs or sensitivities in RSC Asia locations, including remote sessions
- Maintain accurate attendance and payment records
- Maintain regular communication with the CO Manager, CO Coordinator, Program Support Coordinator and Senior CO Trainers
- Implement, provide feedback and communicate ideas for updates and improvements the established CO curriculum
- Maintain a current understanding of the overall US Refugee Program and the resettlement issues related to CO
- Support training and monitoring of volunteers (interpreters and childcare providers) as required
- Support logístical arrangements and the upkeep of CO facilities as the need arises
- Assist with the accurate maintenance of START (a State Department - managed system that supports the arrival and resettlement of refugees through technology) database records including CO scheduling, post-CO data entry and perform quality control checks regularly ensuring the RSC goal of data perfection
- Adhere to all Integrity and Compliance guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned

Indirect Reporting: Program Support Coordinator, Cultural Orientation Coordinator & Senior Program Coordinator, Malaysia

**Job Requirements**

**Education**:

- University degree preferred; OR equivalent to 1-2 years of meaningful professional experience will be considered

**Work Experience**:

- Experience teaching/training adults, children, youth (in a refugee context is advantageous)
- Experience teaching/training virtually (in a refugee context is advantageous)
- Professional work experience in refugee resettlement processing or community development is desirable
- Previous exposure to a multi-cultural environment is advantageous

**Demonstrated Skills and Competencies**:

- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues and partners in a fast-paced environment with professionalism
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks, work independently, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines

**Language and Computer Skills**:

- Excellent spoken and written English, excellent spoken Rohingya; other languages such as Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, or Burmese desirable

Certificates or Licenses:

- Not applicable, unless required by law and/or organization to carry out official duties

**Others**:

- Ability and willingness to travel when required
- Does not hold asylum seeker or refugee status in any country
