Procurement and Logistics Specialist

The **Procurement and Logistics Specialist (Manufacturing & Production)**plays a crucial role in managing the purchasing, planning, and logistics operations of the organization, ensuring a seamless flow of raw materials from suppliers to production and through to the final delivery stages. This role will ensure that the company operates with optimal inventory levels, efficient material flow, and on-time delivery to meet production schedules and customer demands.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Raw Material Procurement**
- Coordinate the purchasing of raw materials based on production requirements, sales forecasts, and inventory levels.
- Ensure timely order placement and track procurement status with suppliers.
- Maintain and update material stock levels to avoid shortages and overstocking.
- Negotiate with suppliers for cost-effectiveness, quality, and delivery schedules.
**Inventory Management**
- Monitor inventory levels and adjust based on usage rates and future needs.
- Analyze stock turnover, identifying materials with high usage and those that need replenishment.
- Maintain accurate records of material stock movements in the warehouse.
- Implement inventory control practices to minimize losses or excess inventory.
**Logistics and Shipping Coordination**
- Work with freight forwarders and transporters to ensure on-time shipping of materials and finished goods.
- Coordinate the documentation process for shipping, including purchase orders, invoices, customs paperwork, and bills of lading.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs procedures.
- Resolve shipping and delivery issues promptly, including delays or discrepancies in shipments.
**Production Scheduling Support**
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure materials are available as needed to support production schedules.
- Work closely with markets to forecast demand, ensuring that materials are ordered and delivered on time to meet production deadlines.
**Reporting and Analysis**
- Maintain detailed reports on raw material purchases, inventories, shipping schedules, and cost analysis.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on supply chain performance, highlighting any delays or issues in the materials flow.
- Monitor supplier performance, including delivery lead times, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
**Process Improvement**
- Analyze the efficiency of the current procurement and logistics processes, identifying areas for cost reduction or performance improvement.
- Recommend and implement best practices for inventory management and materials handling.
- Work on cross-functional projects aimed at optimizing the supply chain and logistics operations.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**: A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
**Experience**:
- 3-5 years of experience in materials planning, procurement, or logistics coordination, preferably in manufacturing or production environments.
- Experience working with inventory management software and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of shipping processes and familiarity with freight forwarders and logistics partners.
**Skills**:
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while ensuring attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools for reporting and analysis.
**Certifications (preferred)**:
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS or similar) or logistics-related certifications would be an advantage.
**Working Conditions**:
- Reporting to: Commercial and Operations Manager

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM9,000.00 per month
