**THE OPPORTUNITY**

Our client, an Australian underwriting agency owned by Not for Profits, established to make a real difference in the way insurance is provided in our sector, is hiring a **Finance Assistant** to be part of their Malaysia team The team operates under a unique business model in the Australian insurance market where 70% of the surplus each year is returned to shareholders as donations and 5% annually is set aside to fund a small grants program.

As the **Finance Assistant**, you will be mainly responsible for a variety of functional activities for assisting the finance functions of the underwriting agency. The role will be directly reporting to the Financial Analyst and with secondary reporting to the Credit Controller based in Australia.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assistance with reconciliation of unallocated cash, including liaison with internal underwriters and external brokers.
- Follow-up on outstanding requests with internal underwriters and external brokers to resolve outstanding issues including incomplete transactions, errors, stamp duty exemptions, overpayments etc.
- Checking account reconciliation queries - chasing brokers and underwriters on unreconciled amounts, processing refunds or adjustments.
- Assisting with maintaining credit control of the business.
- Monthly reconciliation of claims data from insurers, prompt uploading into the Appsure underwriting system, monthly update of the portfolio spreadsheet and liaison with Appsure on transition of the portfolio and triangulation tools into PowerBI.
- Maintaining and updating the Stamp Duty exemption spreadsheet and liaising with Appsure on automation.
- Assisting other key staff members on projects as required.

**SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION**
- Graduate of Finance or Accounting
- With at least 1 year of experience in finance/accounting support
- Preferably with exposure in the Insurance industry or similar industries
- Knowledgeable in MS Excel (able to understand and utilize formulas, pivot, etc)
- Excellent English communication skills and can effectively communicate with all stakeholders
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong administrative skills and time management skills.
- Exceptional customer service orientation and ethics.
- Show initiative and have the ability to work both autonomously and within a team.
