We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Executive, General Ledger to join our finance team in Kuala Lumpur. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure accurate and timely month-end closing, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end processes, accruals, reconciliations, and fixed asset management.

A DAY IN A LIFE

As a start-up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:

  1. Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting
    1. Manage the full cycle of month-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
    2. Prepare and post month-end accrual journals, prepayments, and adjusting entries.
    3. Review and verify GL entries for completeness and accuracy.
    4. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  1. General Ledger Maintenance & Reconciliation
    1. Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
    2. Maintain and reconcile GLtransactions.
    3. Ensure proper documentation and approval for all GL entries.
    4. Monitor and analyze GL accounts to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  1. Fixed Asset Accounting
    1. Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
    2. Ensure proper capitalization, amortization, and impairment of fixed assets in compliance with company policies.
    3. Coordinate with other departments for asset verification and tagging.
    4. Prepare fixed asset-related schedules and reports.
  1. Compliance & Process Improvement
    1. Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements (e.g., MFRS, tax regulations).
    2. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
    3. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in GL operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) or part-qualified candidates are preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting, month-end closing, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of MFRS/IFRS and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel / Google Sheet skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
