Finance & Accounting Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role carries dual responsibilities. As the Country Finance & Accounting Manager, the role oversees all local accounting, financial reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting, tax, and audit matters. As the Global Accounts Payable Function Lead, the role manages a Global AP team supporting 17 Business Units while driving process excellence, vendor management, and system enhancements. The ideal candidate is an agile finance professional who can balance strategic financial management with hands-on operational leadership in a global shared-services environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Country Finance & Accounting)

• Manage and lead all accounting and financial management activities for Malaysia.
• Oversee full month-end, quarterly, and annual closing processes for Malaysia entity reporting.
• Prepare and review financial reports required for Group consolidation.
• Prepare full sets of audited financial statements and support audit schedules.
• Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely completion of statutory audits.
• Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies, internal controls, and statutory financial requirements.
• Prepare financial analysis, annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and financial planning reports for management review.
• Provide insights on cost structures, margins, financial performance, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare annual tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for Group reporting.
• Coordinate with tax consultants on corporate tax, SST/GST, and other statutory filings.
• Prepare withholding tax filings for payments to non-residents.
• Work closely with HQ on transfer pricing matters and related documentation requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Global AP Function)

• Lead, coach, and develop a regional Accounts Payable (AP) team supporting 17 Business Units.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, supplier payments, employee travel and expense claims, and corporate credit card reconciliations.
• Support monthly close activities related to AP, including balance sheet and P&L preparation for the Malaysia entity.
• Prepare AP-related reporting and analytics for HQ and Business Units as part of month-end and AP performance review.
• Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
• Contribute to system enhancement projects, including SAP optimisation and AI-enabled invoice automation.

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, etc.) is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of AP/Finance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
• Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
• Solid understanding of accounting standards, financial reporting, and Malaysian taxation (SST, WHT) and statutory requirements.
• Experience with SAP enhancements or finance digitalisation initiatives.
• Proven leadership capability, ideally gained in a regional or shared-services environment.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills, with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced global environment, including "wearing two hats" across country finance and regional AP responsibilities.
