Position Summary:
Oversees and leads the daily operations of all slides, pools, and attractions within the Water Park and Hotel area at LEGOLAND Malaysia. Enhancing the department and company performance by taking ownership of various initiatives as scheduled while exploring opportunities to add value to department performance and results. Establishes and maintains all procedural, safety and Guest Service standards. Has responsibility for leadership and management of Water Park supervisor, head lifeguards, life guards and slide attendants (MCs) and supports other operational and commercial interests.
You are expected to embrace the vision and values of the business to deliver highest standards of safety and compliance. You will also be involved in planning and organizational assignments of Waterpark projects and monitor the progress to ensure completion within deadline. You will be managing a set of Waterpark team providing them the required support, motivation and leadership practices that aligned with the Merlin core values.
You will communicate and interact with co-workers, managers and senior leadership team within or across the departments by exhibiting your professionalism. You will also be required to exemplify your best behavior to your team and work well with other team members in the department/organization and to carry out assignments that are delegated by your superior in a timely manner.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Oversees LEGOLAND Malaysia's Water Park attractions, slides, pools, playscapes, restrooms, changing areas, admissions, and grounds cleanliness. Ensures that LLM maintains exceptional guest services, safety and cleanliness standards. Supports and keeps a close relationship to the commercial areas including retail, F&B, photo, events/functions, cabanas and other commercial income.
Serves as a member of the management team. Participates in planning, policy and direction setting, problem solving and decision making with other members of the management team. Promotes and demonstrates Merlin's and LEGO's culture and core values through words and actions.
Contributes to knowledge of attractions, quality installation, slide safety and guest service to ensure smooth operation of attractions, slides, pools, and playscapes.
Oversees the hiring and training of all lifeguards according to the specified license provider requirements as well as Water Park regulations. Ensures that training is adhered to and followed up on. Ensures that the lifeguards receive their required amount of audits.
Oversees all lifeguard license provider requirements and targets including external audits and requirements. Ensures full audit compliance and that corrective actions are promptly managed and implemented.
Ensures that all safety and sanitary requirements are met and that all regulations are enforced.
Oversees the Water Park financial planning and controlling incl. P&L's, budgets and supports the CAPEX project planning.
Reviews infrastructure, mechanical and other operational system requirements in accordance with plans and specifications. Evaluates and tests slides, attractions, and pools. Develop and implement standard operating procedures to exceed safety standards.
Inspects the Water Park area and facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Documents and communicates findings and results; proposes corrective actions as the situation requires.
Develops detailed operational and safety procedures. Works with Maintenance to develop maintenance schedules, water measures and procedures. Maintain files and records of manuals, documentation and related product support materials.
Accountable for the leadership including training and development, coaching and counseling practices, recruiting and MC reviews. Is responsible for managing the operational training requirements to ensure smooth operations of the park. Provide leadership to encourage guest service focus and drive to exceed guest expectations. The Water Park Manager is leading and taking part of the resort duty planning as well as Water Park duty and is instrumental in building and maintaining a positive employee culture.
Interacts and maintains relationship with outside governmental entities (Health Department, ETC) regarding safety and health concerns.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing professional publications.
Maintains knowledge on current changes in local, state, and federal standards regarding safety & health issues, pool cleanliness, and drain covers protocols.
Responsible for instilling a safety culture in the team keeping guest safety of utmost importance.
Measure staff engagement with safety through annual Wizard Wants to Know survey.
SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managers are responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety & Security within their team, in line with the Group Policy (HS001).
Managers must ensure that risk assessments have been carried out, that safe working procedures are in place for all work activities and that the employees in their team are aware of the Group Health, Safety and Security Policy and their obligations under it.
Managers must ensure that safe working practices are monitored and risk assessments and procedures are reviewed regularly.
Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are investigated appropriately and that where necessary, corrective action is taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
Able to present and communicate basic First Aid procedures.
Background and Experience:
· Requires at least five (5) years of progressive experience within industry related operations preferably within managing attractions, pools, slides/rides, and lifeguards in a theme park or business related industry.
· Demonstrated leadership experience and effective verbal and written communication skills required.
· Requires a demonstrated track record of success in operating and maintaining pools, attractions, and slides.
· Requires mechanical aptitude and ability to ensure plans, specifications, safety and quality standards are met.
· Strong guest service, interpersonal and supervisory skills are required.
· Experience in ensuring guest safety through procedures, programs and instilling a safety culture is critical.
· Knowledge of budgeting and scheduling are required.
· Exhibits both the ability to work as a team member as well as the ability to work independently and execute projects within job scope.
· Exhibits patience, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Must have or be able to acquire the following certifications and training:
- International Life Society (ILS)
- Lifeguard Saving Society of Malaysia (LSSM)
- CPR Certified
- Certified Pool or Aquatic Facility Operator
- Life Guard Training
- Lifeguard Instructor Training
- AED Trained
- Standard and Advanced First Aid Certified
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, or closely related field (or equivalent education and experience) is preferred.
Physical Demands:
· Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork activities, travel and drive.
· Intermittent and prolonged standing and walking to move about the park site, and interact with employees.
· Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper level of buildings.
· Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.
· Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete paperwork activities, and to drive.
· Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
Work Environment:
Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
Other Requirements:
· Maintaining confidentiality within the organization and protect any information that classified as confidential.
· Maintaining honesty and integrity with superior, subordinates and guests.
· Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations.
· Complying with the company's grooming standard.
· Requires a valid driver's license and passport.
· Must be willing to travel locally and regionally to conduct business if required.
