L3 Software Engineer

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechatronics.
• Certification in PLC programming and  MES systems

Experience Required

• 5–8 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation software development and integration.
• Proven experience in MES (Manufacturing Execution System) implementation and customization.
• Strong exposure to SCADA, PLC, industrial communication protocols, and database-driven systems.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting production floor software systems.

Technical Expertise

Automation Software

• Design, develop, and maintain automation logic interfacing with production systems.
• Integration of PLC/SCADA with higher-level MES / ERP systems.
• Familiar with ISA-95 standards for integration between enterprise and control layers.
• Strong in HMI/SCADA application design (e.g., Ignition, WinCC, Wonderware, or iFIX).

MES Systems

• Hands-on experience with MES platforms such as:

• Siemens Op-center, Rockwell FactoryTalk, AVEVA MES, GE Proficy, or Critical Manufacturing MES.

• Configuration of production order management, traceability, WIP tracking, data collection, and OEE dashboards.
• Development of custom modules or scripts (Python, VB, or Java-based extensions).
• Familiarity with manufacturing data models, process parameters, and quality control workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Level 3 support engineer, resolving escalated MES or automation software issues.
• Lead root-cause analysis for complex integration or production data issues.
• Work with overseas site / automation teams on system upgrades and deployment.
• Develop scripts or tools to automate repetitive MES and data-handling tasks.
• Perform system performance tuning and data accuracy validation.
• Mentor and support L1/L2 automation engineers.

Soft Skills

• Excellent cross-functional communication between IT, production, and maintenance teams.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking.
• Ability to document workflows, code, and configuration changes clearly.
• Capable of managing multiple concurrent MES and automation projects.

Field Experience / Travel

• Willingness to travel: Work on-site with customers and the ability and willingness to travel is important. This will include domestic and international travel.
• Remote troubleshooting and support: Experience in providing remote assistance to customers can be an asset, especially in today's hybrid work environment.

• Self-motivation: Able to work independently and need to be proactive in identifying and addressing customer needs.
• Attention to detail: Being able to carefully analyse problems and understand the root cause of technical issues.
• Empathy and patience: Especially when dealing with customers who may not be as technically adept, these attributes help in maintaining positive relationships.

Other Requirements (Based on Company and Role)

• Language proficiency: English and Mandarin, are necessary for communication with customers and colleagues in different countries.
• At the management discretion, the employee can be deployed at other work operations sites/locations, domestically or overseas.
