Commis - Pastry

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION

To assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality pastries and desserts under the guidance of senior pastry chefs, ensuring consistency, hygiene, and adherence to food safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to recipes and menu specifications.

• Assist in mise en place for pastry production, including weighing, mixing, and portioning ingredients.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section, adhering to HACCP and food hygiene standards.

• Support senior chefs in daily operations and contribute to smooth kitchen workflow.

• Label and date all food items to ensure proper stock rotation and minimize waste.

• Monitor equipment and report any malfunctions or safety concerns.

• Participate in daily briefings and training sessions to improve skills and knowledge.

• Assist in inventory checks and requisitioning supplies for the pastry section.

• Uphold grooming standards and comply with kitchen opening/closing procedures.

Requirements

• Basic culinary training or certification preferred (e.g., Diploma in Pastry Arts).
• Prior experience in a pastry kitchen is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of baking techniques, dessert plating, and food safety practices.
• Ability to follow instructions, work under pressure, and maintain attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and a positive team-oriented attitude.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM1, RM2,500.00 per month
