Your Role at
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced APAC Payroll Team Lead to join our team in Malaysia. In this critical role, you'll lead payroll operations across the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency for multiple countries. You'll manage vendor relationships, mentor a payroll team, and play a key role in strengthening payroll governance as our business grows.

What You'll Do- Manage end-to-end payroll operations across multiple APAC countries (including Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, and others as we expand).
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local tax laws, labor regulations, and company policies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a regional payroll team, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Build strong partnerships with external payroll vendors, ensuring SLAs are met and issues resolved quickly.
- Continuously review processes to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and best practices.
- Generate timely and accurate payroll reports for HR, Finance, and senior leadership, providing insights where needed.
- Develop, update, and enforce payroll policies and procedures across APAC to ensure consistency.
- Oversee payroll audits and reconciliations, ensuring data integrity and resolving discrepancies.
- Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to integrate payroll with broader business operations.
- Stay current with payroll legislation, tax laws, and market practices across the APAC region.
- Extensive Payroll Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in and 2 years in payroll management, with a significant focus on the Asia-Pacific region.
- APAC Expertise: In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements across various APAC countries.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing a payroll team, with strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
- Analytical Mindset: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in payroll software and HRIS systems (e.g., Ramco, ADP, banking systems, tax systems, BambooHR, Workday, DarwinBox, HiBob). Experience with regional payroll platforms is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across diverse cultures.
- Compliance Focused: A strong commitment to maintaining data confidentiality and adhering to strict compliance standards.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Fluent in English
- Experience with regional payroll consolidation platforms.
- Familiarity with process automation or payroll transformation projects.
