Role Overview:

The IT Project Manager will lead end-to-end delivery of software development projects within the General Insurance (GI) domain. The role involves managing cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technology standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Execution
  • Plan, organize, and oversee software development projects from initiation to closure.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, resource needs, and timelines.
  • Prepare and maintain project plans, schedules, RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs, and governance reports.
  • Stakeholder & Team Management
  • Work closely with business users, product owners, and insurance domain experts to gather and clarify requirements.
  • Coordinate with onshore/offshore development, QA, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
  • Manage vendors and third-party technology partners where applicable.
  • Domain-Specific Responsibilities
  • Understand and manage projects across key GI processes – policy administration, underwriting, claims management, billing, reinsurance, and reporting.
  • Ensure systems comply with local insurance regulations and data protection norms.
  • Translate insurance product and process requirements into technical deliverables.
  • Delivery & Governance
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC, Agile/Scrum, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Track milestones, manage risks/issues proactively, and ensure on-time and quality delivery.
  • Present project updates and dashboards to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive adherence to internal IT governance, security, and audit controls.
  • Implement process improvement initiatives and lessons learned for future projects.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Education:
    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience:
    8–12 years of IT experience with at least 4–5 years in project management of software development projects.
  • Domain Expertise:
    Strong exposure to General Insurance – Policy, Claims, Underwriting, or Reinsurance systems.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile frameworks.
  • Knowledge of technologies such as Java/.NET, APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and integration tools.
  • Experience with tools like JIRA, MS Project, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
  • Certifications:
    PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum Master preferred.
