About the role
Cherita Manik Nyonya Cuisine' is seeking a talented and experienced Kitchen Supervisor / Lead Chef to join our team in our restaurant in George Town, Penang. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring the delivery of exceptional culinary experiences for our customers.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and supervise kitchen operations during service to ensure all orders are accurate, timely, and consistent.
- Maintain taste, portioning, and plating according to company SOPs and Nyonya cuisine standards.
- Plan daily food preparation activities and assign tasks to junior kitchen staff.
- Review and verify stock-take reports, monitor inventory levels, and confirm supplier orders.
- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and proper handling of kitchen equipment and ingredients.
- Support menu consistency and quality improvements where needed.
- Work closely with management to meet kitchen operational goals.
What we're looking for
- Excellent knowledge of Nyonya and Malaysian culinary traditions, techniques and flavour profiles
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen team
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of food safety and hygiene
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and make quick, informed decisions
- Creativity and a passion for experimenting with new ingredients and techniques to enhance the dining experience
Salary & Benefits
- RM2,700 – RM3,000 basic salary
- Allowance + KPI incentives (estimated total up to RM3,500)
