Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other service providers to negotiate rates, secure capacity, and ensure smooth execution of shipments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, understanding their business requirements and providing tailored solutions to meet their logistics needs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including customs requirements, trade sanctions, and safety regulations, to minimize risk and ensure the legality of shipments.
- Monitor and control costs associated with ocean freight operations, identifying opportunities for cost savings and optimizing transportation routes and modes.
- Ensure service quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency, and take corrective actions as needed to address any issues or discrepancies.
- Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the supply chain, such as port disruptions, vessel delays, or cargo damage, and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
- Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting ocean freight transportation, and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or maritime shipping, with a focus on ocean freight procurement.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations, IMCO terms etc.
- Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and vendors.
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Working languages: English and Chinese.
