R&D Procurement & Product Development Executive

Workplace & Furniture Industry

Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented executive to support our product development and purchasing operations.

This role focuses primarily on procurement for furniture and workplace products, with additional tasks related to basic design, R&D evaluation, and supplier coordination.

Approximately 80% of the job involves procurement and 20% involves design/R&D tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement (Main Responsibility)

  • Source and evaluate new suppliers and manufacturers
  • Request quotations, negotiate pricing, and compare cost structures
  • Manage purchase orders for furniture materials and finished products
  • Monitor delivery timelines, quality, and supplier performance
  • Maintain SKU, cost, and product database
  • Conduct cost benchmarking between suppliers
  • Coordinate with internal departments for stock and project needs

R&D & Product Development (Supporting Responsibility)

  • Assist in basic furniture design, drafting, or product adjustments
  • Prepare product specifications and documentation
  • Support development of new collections, materials, and components
  • Conduct market and competitor product research
  • Work with suppliers on samples and prototype improvements
  • Ensure product feasibility, quality standards, and practicality

Requirements

  • Experience in purchasing, supply chain, or product development
  • Able to communicate with suppliers clearly and follow-through reliably
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Basic design or drafting ability is a plus (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar)
  • Familiarity with materials such as wood, metal, fabrics, and furniture components is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
