We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive
Assistant Finance Manager
to support the Finance Lead in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, month-end closing, and financial reporting. This role will also play a key part in our
ERP migration project
, focusing on process documentation, data validation, and UAT testing to ensure financial data accuracy and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Month-End Closing
- Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, provisions, and depreciation.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations (bank, AP, AR) to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain and update fixed asset, borrowing, and deferred income registers.
- Review ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to trial balance submission.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management reports including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Review working capital and cash flow performance to support business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with MFRS and internal accounting policies.
- Collaborate with business units in budgeting and forecasting to achieve financial goals.
3. Statutory Reporting
- Prepare annual financial statements and supporting schedules for management and auditors.
- Coordinate and support both internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with statutory and tax regulations.
4. Controls & Compliance
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all accounting transactions.
- Support external audit requirements and statutory submissions in a timely manner.
5. Continuous Improvement
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Work with cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, and Collections) to resolve data and reporting issues.
6. Finance Transformation Projects
- Participate in ERP migration activities, including data mapping, system configuration review, and UAT testing.
- Reconcile data between legacy systems and new ERP outputs to ensure accuracy.
- Document finance process flows, SOPs, and reporting templates.
Requirements
Previous Experience:
- 4–7 years of accounting experience in commercial, trading, or service-based industries.
Education:
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of AP and AR accounting processes.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of month-end closing and financial reporting processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Power BI or other data analysis tools is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems; exposure to system migration projects is highly advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
