Halal Executive

Job Responsibilities:

Business License, Safety Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Management:

• Monitor the organization's business licenses and permits to ensure they are up to date and compliant with local, regional, and national regulations.
• Prepare and submit applications for new licenses and renewals as required.
• Liaise with government agencies and local authorities to address any licensing issues or inquiries.
• Collaborate with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health to ensure the organization's safety protocols and practices meet OSH standards.
• Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures for the organization.
• Interact with various governmental bodies, including but not limited to BOMBA (Fire and Rescue Department), Department of Environment (DoE), and other relevant authorities to ensure the organization's compliance with regulations and requirements set forth by these agencies.

Halal Compliance, Certification & Documentation:

• Execute policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure Halal assurance activities are according to regulations, standards and business requirements.
• Handling of regulatory affairs matters with other governmental bodies pertaining to Halal matters.
• Ensure compliance with Halal standards and regulations in all aspects of the business operations.
• Observe the changes in Halal regulations and industry practices to provide guidance and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Manage the Halal certification process for Vivo Pizza and maintain a valid Halal certification, which may include liaising with certifying bodies and completing necessary documentation.
• To obtain Halal certification for new outlets and Halal renewal for all existing outlets.
• Register new products and apply halal certificate according to the requirements of JAKIM regulation.
• Responsible to validate any changes in raw material, suppliers, and process flow in operation.
• Maintain and keep accurate record to track all Halal-related certifications, Halal status of all the raw ingredients, food products certification and outlets.

Supplier and Ingredient Management:

• Collaborate with Purchasing Department to ensure the sourcing of ingredients and materials purchased comply with Halal requirement.

Audit & Compliance:

• Conduct regular audits and inspections of supply, production, facilities, supply chains, and processes to identify and rectify safety compliance issues while ensure Halal certification standards are met.
• Prepare Halal audit report and recommend way forward for improvement in business operations from audit findings.
• Investigate any non-compliance issues related to Halal standards and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Address regulatory inquiries, inspections, and compliance matters in a timely and effective manner.
• Accountable to handle any issues related to safety or Halal compliance, such as product recalls or contamination incidents.
• Ensure all records and other relevant documentation pertaining to regulatory, safety and Halal compliance are defined, identified, documented and updated.

Training & Advisory:

• Keep the entire team informed about the significance of safety and Halal compliance and best practices.

Other:

• Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned as required.

Job Requirements:

Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

• Minimum of Diploma/Bachelor's Degree Halal Industry Management/Halal Food Management/Halal Quality Assurance/Food Technology/Quality Control/Assurance or equivalent.
• Certified Halal Executive under Halal Professional Board (HPB), JAKIM.
• At least 2 years of working experience in related field. Qualified in HALAL Management, ISO/HACCP or MESTI.
• Possess good written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Malaysia HALAL System Management (MHSM) and quality (QA/QC) standards.
• Problem analysis and problem solving.
• Planning and organizing.
