Quarry Manager

Job Descriptions

1. Quarry Plant Operations Management
2. Supervise the day-to-day operations of the quarry, ensuring smooth functioning of plant machinery and all production activities, including blasting, rock haulage, loading, and sales.
3. Coordinate and manage all repairs and maintenance to minimize downtime, and ensure timely procurement of spare parts and consumables.

4. Oversee general logistics such as ration arrangements for on-site staff.

5. Production Planning and Execution

6. Develop periodic production plans, monitor progress, and adjust activities as needed to meet production targets.

7. Ensure timely and efficient execution of production activities to maintain consistent output quality and quantity.

8. Cost Control and Optimization

9. Monitor and control operational costs, striving to maintain cost-effective production by introducing efficiency measures.

10. Optimize unit production costs and implement cost-saving strategies to support profitability goals.

11. Safety and Health Compliance

12. Enforce safety protocols and health standards to maintain a secure environment for all quarry personnel.

13. Regularly inspect the worksite to identify and address any potential safety or environmental hazards, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

14. Administrative Oversight and Reporting

15. Perform administrative tasks related to quarry operations, including regular stock takes, inventory management, and activity reporting.

16. Prepare and submit reports on production metrics, operational costs, and other key performance indicators as required by management.

17. Team Management and Interpersonal Skills

18. Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of quarry workers, fostering a productive and cooperative work environment.
19. Develop efficient manpower schedules and arrangements to ensure adequate coverage and effective staff utilization.

Job Requirements

1. Education and Experience

2. Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

3. Languages

4. Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese, and English for effective communication with the diverse workforce and management.

5. Experience

6. Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the quarry industry or related fields, ideally in a managerial or supervisory capacity.

7. Previous experience in manufacturing or production operations, with a focus on optimizing processes and meeting production targets.

8. Licenses and Certifications

9. A Blasting License recognized by the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia (JMG) is highly desirable, as it enables direct oversight of blasting activities within the quarry.

10. Skills and Competencies

11. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and management skills, with the ability to handle manpower arrangements and maintain effective team dynamics.
12. Self-motivated, honest, hardworking, and open to continuous learning and improvement.

13. Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities autonomously while also integrating well with the larger team.

14. Availability and Commitment

15. Willingness to work in Tatau area and based full-time on-site at the quarry.
16. Adaptable to extended hours as required by the operational demands of the quarry site.
