Business Development Manager, Contract Logistics

CLIENT
Our client is a leading one-stop logistics MNC with services in Freight Forwarding, Customs Clearance, Haulage, Warehousing, Distribution, Contract Logistics, Cross-Border e-Commerce, etc. Since its inception in Malaysia in 2004, it has achieved rapid growth and expansion with a logistics network that covers the entire Malaysia geography. Its customers include established companies in retail, consumer, e-commerce, semiconductors, IT, telecommunication, manufacturing and other sectors.
It currently has a vacancy for an experienced Business Development Manager with a good sales record in 3PL/logistics industry.
Besides a base salary, an attractive commission scheme is available for successful deals and profits achieved as per the KPI.
JOB SUMMARY
This role will appeal to those currently at Assistant Manager level and ready to move up to Manager level or those who has done well but running out of challenges in his current sales or business development role.
To lead and manage the sales and related activities of the assigned portfolio/area, drive revenue and ensure that profitability goals and other KPIs are met.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent the company contract logistics division and be the primary point of contact for all existing clients' business development.
Increase "stickiness" with the customers and identify any organic growth from the existing customer we can explore by expanding scope of business through cross-sell and up-sell initiatives.
Maintaining existing client's relationship, new quotation request, contract renewing negotiation etc.,
Source new opportunities by researching into potential clients' organizations and their decision-making individuals, and contacting these individuals to establish rapport and arrange meetings.
Interpret and use internal and/or external data provided to speak to potential customers to address their needs and communicate business solutions.
Track and update pipeline opportunities against budget detailing the requirements, revenue, profit, and timing.
Attend or participate in exhibitions, trade shows and relevant industry networking events to hunt for potential customers and/or promote company services.
Close prospective accounts and achieve monthly new revenue & profit goals.
Lead in developing the response to RFI/RFQ/RFP opportunities.
Act as liaison between customers/suppliers/landlords and our internal teams.
Develop the annual business development plan based on the targets set by headquarters.
Work five days a week but have to be flexible with time to meet customer demand.
QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS
• Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain / Logistics Management, Business or other related disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant sales experience in Logistics or Supply Chain with a good sales achievement record.
• Familiar with logistics operations such as warehousing, distribution and transportation operations with good contacts and networking with key decision makers.
• Result-oriented, outgoing and 'hunter-type' personality, with good social, negotiation and people skills. Resourceful in finding solutions.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, IT and administrative skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Power Point applications.
• Proficiency in English, Malay and Chinese for communication purposes.
• Able to work effectively and independently, in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
