Business Development Manager

About the Role
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will lead the growth and expansion of the company's market presence across Malaysia and regional markets. This role combines strategic planning, relationship building, and technical-commercial leadership to identify opportunities, develop key partnerships, and achieve revenue targets in solar PV and energy storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Market Development
- Develop and execute business growth strategies in line with company goals and solar market trends.
- Identify new market segments, product opportunities, and regional partnerships.
- Build and manage relationships with EPCs, developers, consultants, and large system integrators.
- Monitor industry regulations, incentive programs, and competitor activities to identify opportunities.
- Collaborate with management to define annual business targets and expansion plans.
2. Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth
- Lead the Business Development team to achieve or exceed assigned sales revenue, margin, and conversion targets.
- Support the preparation and closing of major accounts, tenders, and framework agreements.
- Oversee proposal strategy, pricing structure, and commercial terms in collaboration with the Solutions and Product teams.
- Drive cross-selling of inverters, storage, and complementary solar components.
- Monitor sales performance, forecasts, and pipeline health through CRM reporting.
3. Team Management & Coaching
- Lead, mentor, and develop Business Development Engineers and Executives.
- Set clear sales goals, performance metrics, and accountability for each team member.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions, joint customer visits, and pipeline reviews.
- Build a positive and competitive team culture focused on growth and collaboration.
4. Partnership & Channel Development
- Develop strategic partnerships with distributors, installers, and technology providers.
- Negotiate channel agreements, pricing, and incentive structures.
- Ensure consistent communication and relationship management with key partners.
- Explore regional expansion opportunities (e.g., ASEAN markets).
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Solutions Division for proposal design and system sizing.
- Coordinate with the Product Division for product positioning, updates, and launches.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Team on campaigns, trade shows, and promotional strategies.
- Align with the Operations Division to ensure smooth post-sales delivery
6. Reporting & Management Contribution
- Report weekly and monthly sales performance, forecasts, and KPIs to management.
- Present market intelligence and competitor insights during management meetings.
- Contribute to the company's annual sales planning and budget forecast.
- Participate in strategic decision-making and policy formulation for business growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy) or Business Administration.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in solar, energy, or electrical equipment sales; 2–3 years in managerial role.
- Strong network with EPCs, developers, and renewable energy stakeholders in Malaysia.
- Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin an added advantage.
