The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) is a society formed in 1987 by a group of parents and professionals with the aim to deliver services to the community of persons suffering from autism.

We are a non-governmental organisation that provides services and assistance to people with autism. We are looking for suitable candidates to fill vacancies as OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST who will be positioned at NASOM Setia Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in special education, Occupational Therapist, Psychology, Child's Development and Healthcare Services.
  • Candidate with diploma or equivalent is encouraged to apply
  • Minimum SPM with 3 credits to qualified.
  • Interested in a career field of special education.
  • Kind-hearted and passionate to work with a charitable organisation and special needs children.
  • Training on the job will be provided.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A.Assessment

  • Conducts the following:

a) Occupational assessment and evaluation

b) Processing of assessment protocols

c) Writing assessment reports

d) Keeping and updating of records

  • Works together with the multidisciplinary team in matters relating to screening and assessment, such as but not exclusive of, the following:

a) Parent interview and feedback-giving

b) Direct-testing and observation of child

  • Regularly reviews and recommends updates for occupational assessment instruments.

B.Therapy/Interventions

a) Plans and conducts occupational therapy of clients

b) Participates in case conferences with multidisciplinary team

c) Conducts case consultation and feedback with parents/caregivers, teachers and other concerned individuals

d) Keeps and updates therapy plans and records

e) Follows-up on existing or referred cases

C.Intervention/training centre/school support

a) Collaborates with the IEP team in the planning, implementation and evaluation of student programmes in matters related to occupational therapy

b) Monitors the progress and development of students in matters related to occupational therapy

c) Consults with and provides feedback and recommendations to teachers, parents and other concerned parties in matters pertaining to student progress and intervention programmes

d) Provides occupational therapy/support for in-house students, as needed

e) Provides guidance on programme planning, implementation and environmental modifications to teachers

f) Keeps and updates centre visit/consultation records

D.Consultations and support services

a) Provides information/resources, referrals and other support services to parents and other concerned parties

b) Consults with the multidisciplinary team, teachers, parents and other concerned parties in matters related to child services

c) Conducts home/school/centre visits as needed

E.Training advocacy and research

a) Conducts teacher training programmes, as needed

b) Provides talks and attends meeting on matters related to autism and occupational therapy, as needed

c) Participates in research and other projects related to autism, as needed

d) Engages in continuous professional development such as seminars, conferences, workshops and professional sharing sessions
