Landscape Manager

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Operational Management
- Lead and supervise the landscape operations team including Landscape Supervisors, direct workers, driver and administrative/accounts support staff.
- Develop annual maintenance plans, schedules and manpower deployment strategies.
2. Landscape Maintenance & Quality Control
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure prompt rectification of landscape issues.
- Oversee daily and cyclic maintenance for softscape areas.
- Ensure proper lawn care, pruning, trimming, fertilising, watering, mulching, and planting tasks.
- Monitor plant health, detect pests/diseases, and implement timely corrective measures.
3. Landscape Implementation, Enhancement & Project Management
- Plan and execute landscape enhancement, refurbishment, and beautification projects.
- Arrange and coordinate planting works for mixed development, township and condominium landscapes.
- Work closely with consultants, suppliers and nurseries on materials, plant selection and implementation works.
- Review design proposals to ensure practicality, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
4. Tender Bidding & Proposal Preparation
- Prepare and submit tender bids for landscape maintenance and enhancement contracts.
- Review tender requirements, prepare costing, BOQs, technical proposals, and work methodologies.
- Conduct site evaluations for tender pricing and feasibility studies
5. Workforce Coordination, Supervision & Training
- Assign daily tasks to supervisors and monitor productivity and performance of direct workers.
- Oversee attendance, work discipline, work quality, and compliance with safety procedures.
- Conduct toolbox briefings, safety trainings, and on-the-job coaching.
6. Equipment, Vehicle, Machinery & Material Control
- Ensure all landscape machinery, tools, and equipment are well-maintained and serviced.
- Manage inventory of plants, fertilisers, chemicals, materials, equipment, and fuel usage.
- Oversee the driver's logistics duties including delivery of plants, materials, and worker transport.
- Plan procurement and purchasing of plants, materials, and supplies, ensuring adequate stock availability.
7. Budgeting, Cost Control & Accounts Coordination
- Prepare annual budgets for landscape maintenance, operations, and enhancement works.
- Monitor expenses, verify supplier invoices, quotations, and work orders.
- Work with accounts personnel on payroll, purchase orders, claims, and financial compliance.
- Ensure adherence to company financial policies and cost-control guidelines.
8. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare weekly and monthly management reports on landscape conditions, progress, and team performance.
- Maintain documentation on plant inventories, equipment servicing, chemical usage, and manpower records.
- Provide progress reports for enhancement works, projects, and tender submissions.
9. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure landscape operations comply with OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, and statutory regulations.
- Enforce proper use of PPE and safe machinery operation.
- Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures.
10. Stakeholder & Client Communication
- Liaise with Township Management & Development teams, consultants and Authorities.
- Respond promptly to service requests, complaints, and landscape-related issues.
- Provide technical advice on plant species, water efficiency, sustainability measures, and design recommendations.
Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years experience in landscape maintenance, landscape project management, or managing a landscape Department & company.
- Proven experience managing direct workers, supervisors, and landscape teams.
- Experience in tender bidding, costing, and preparation of landscape proposals.
- Hands-on experience arranging plant installations for mixed developments and condominiums.
- Familiarity with managing suppliers, nurseries, landscape workers and landscape machinery.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of plant species, practical horticulture, soil management, and pest/disease control.
- Ability to interpret landscape drawings and design concepts.
- Knowledge of budgeting, cost control, procurement procedures, and tender requirements.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on working style.
- Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
