Job Summary

The System Administrator will be responsible for the strategic management, maintenance, and optimization of the company's hybrid infrastructure, including on-premises servers, cloud services, and storage and data protection platforms.

This role requires hands-on technical proficiency combined with the leadership to define and implement enterprise-wide IT policies, ensure system stability and security, and guide infrastructure evolution. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in data backup/recovery, storage administration, and server management

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management & Strategy:

  • Oversee the entire IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and robust security for all systems.

  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for server, storage, backup, and cloud infrastructure growth and maintenance.
  • Lead infrastructure projects, including system migrations, upgrades, and cloud transitions.

  • Backup & Disaster Recovery (Veeam, Commvault, Synology):

  • Architect, implement, and maintain the company's data protection and disaster recovery strategies using Veeam and Commvault.

  • Oversee the management of backup policies, schedules, and storage targets for diverse workloads (virtual, physical, cloud).
  • Administer and manage Synology NAS devices, integrating them into the backup architecture as a reliable and efficient storage target.
  • Conduct regular testing of disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity and compliance.
  • Server Administration (Linux/Red Hat):

  • Expertly install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

  • Manage and automate system administration tasks, including patching, software updates, and configuration changes.
  • Storage Area Network (SAN) Management:

  • Administer, provision, and maintain SAN storage arrays to ensure data integrity and optimize performance.

  • Manage storage capacity and plan for future needs.
  • Handle advanced troubleshooting of storage-related issues.
  • Cloud Services (AWS and others):

  • Administer and manage cloud resources within Amazon Web Services (AWS), including EC2, S3, and VPC.

  • Leverage AWS services to enhance backup strategies, implement cloud-based disaster recovery, and support hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP) and manage cloud-based systems.
  • Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure the security and integrity of all systems by implementing security best practices, access controls, and monitoring solutions.

  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal security policies.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide technical guidance to IT support teams.

  • Work with cross-functional teams and senior management to align IT initiatives with business objectives.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in system administration, with a demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and technical teams.
  • In-depth, hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication and Commvault enterprise data management solutions.
  • Proven experience managing Synology NAS devices and integrating them into an enterprise environment.
  • Expertise in Linux system administration, particularly Red Hat, and proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python).
  • Extensive experience with SAN administration and storage technology.
  • Strong experience managing resources within Amazon Web Services (AWS) is required.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., RHCSA, VCP, AWS certifications, Commvault Professional) are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
