Sika was first established in Malaysia in 1989 and full operations commenced in 1991 through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sika Kimia Sdn Bhd, with the completion of its local head office and production plant in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. Since then, the company has gained a leading position in the country with the acceptance and endorsement of its products for construction and industrial applications by local and international proponents.

In the Construction sector, our business activities cover the full spectrum of project types ranging from infrastructural development to buildings, from institutional facilities to manufacturing plants. We service our direct customers – concrete producers, contractors and distributors – and stay close to them through our central sales & marketing office in Petaling Jaya and a network of sales offices in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. In 2014 our presence in the Malaysian construction continued to grow when our Ipoh Plant was built and running to meet customer demands.

In Malaysia, our Industry Division is the clear market leader in the automotive glass replacement sector (AGR) and the "Sikaflex" brand is instantly recognized as a mark for quality, reliability and performance. In the automotive OEM sector, we are the approved supplier to top German car markets such as Mercedes Benz and BMW. Meanwhile, Sika leads the field in total bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protection solutions for bus, truck and rail vehicle manufacturing, and for the assembly of appliances, industrial equipment and building components.

Sika Kimia Sdn Bhd currently employs more than 340 people in Sales & Marketing, Technical Service, Finance, HR & Administration, Laboratory, Production, Purchasing, Customer Service and Warehouse.

Job Description

• To support Sika Malaysia in achieving the country growth and profitability targets through the utilisation of Sika's product range and resources. The role will be critical in ensuring implementation of building systems initiative throughout Malaysia.
• Define with the General Manager Key moves and strategies to achieve country growth.
• Collect all available information about the defined projects
• Help TMMs Identify all Sika opportunities
• Guide and help the Spec team, KPMs and the TMMs prepare technical proposals for all possible solutions
• Work with the KPMs, TMMs and / or RSMs to prepare plan of activities for these accounts/projects to ensure we realise the highest potential.
• Specifically work with the RSMs to effectively define as real as possible project potential (quantity survey) each or project for the whole project life.
• Work with TMMs & RSMs to then set these targets and objectives with clear time lines.
• Coordinate the code 1 approval procedure for each product together with the sales team.
• Coach, monitor and report using the existing Sika tools such as Salesforce to all those related.
• Prepare project profiles and reference data as it becomes available.
• Advise GM, TMMs and RSM of reasons for success or failures through constructive independent criticism.
• Communicate and report activities to Regional/Global Building Systems Head, as necessary
• Other tasks as assigned by the General Manager from time to time.

Qualifications

• Degree in any discipline, preferably an Engineering degree
• MBA, added advantageous
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar industry
• Understanding the overall product range of a construction chemical supplier is a must
• Capable of identifying project opportunities and present them to the customer in a convincing way
• Excellent computer skills including PowerPoint presentation and Excel spreadsheet applications;
• Strong organisational, communication, inter-personal, leadership and management skills;
• Able to work independently and in a team environment
• Able to travel when required
• Fluent in spoken and written English, Bahasa Malaysia and/or Mandarin would be advantageous.
