About the role
As a Buyer at PG MALL SDN. BHD., you will play a crucial role in shaping the product selection and purchasing strategy for our thriving online retail store. Responsible for sourcing and procuring the right products to meet customer demand, you will work closely with our merchandising and marketing teams to ensure we consistently deliver an exceptional shopping experience. This full-time position is based in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur.
What you'll be doing
- Source new items and new suppliers (locally and oversea)
- Analysing sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for new product categories and assortments
- Negotiating favourable terms with suppliers and vendors to secure the best prices and availability
- Maintaining strong relationships with existing suppliers and continuously seeking out new, innovative products and suppliers
- Collaborating with the merchandising team to plan and execute effective product launches and seasonal transitions
- Monitoring inventory levels and managing purchase orders to optimise stock and minimise overstocking or stockouts
- Providing regular reporting and insights to the leadership team on category performance, trends, and recommended strategies
What we're looking for
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer or in a similar purchasing/procurement role within the retail industry, preferably in categories of Home & Living, Electronics & Gadgets, Health & Beauty, Pets & Groceries
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and market intelligence
- Strong negotiation and vendor management capabilities, with a track record of securing favourable commercial terms
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, or a related field is preferred
- Language requirements: English & BM (Mandarin & Cantonese will be a plus)
