Job Summary:

The Water Pipe Welder is responsible for performing welding and fitting work on water pipelines and related systems. The role involves fabricating, assembling, and repairing water pipes to ensure leak-free, durable, and safe connections according to project specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding work on mild steel, galvanized, and stainless steel water pipes using SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW methods.
  • Read and interpret pipe layout drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Prepare, align, and join pipes accurately before welding.
  • Weld and repair water pipelines, fittings, and flanges as per design specifications.
  • Conduct basic pressure and leak tests to ensure pipe integrity.
  • Ensure all welding work meets quality standards and inspection requirements.
  • Maintain and care for welding equipment, tools, and consumables.
  • Comply with all safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Assist in installation and maintenance of underground or aboveground water piping systems.
  • Report any issues, defects, or material shortages to the supervisor promptly.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Welder Certificate (e.g., from CIDB, TWI, CSWIP, AWS, or equivalent recognized authority).
  • Certificate or Diploma in Welding, Fabrication, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in water pipe welding or related piping work.
  • Knowledge of various welding processes (TIG, MIG, Arc) and materials used in water piping.
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings accurately.
  • Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces, trenches, or outdoor environments.
  • Strong awareness of safety and hygiene, especially for potable water systems.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in jointing ductile iron (DI), mild steel (MS), or HDPE pipes.
  • Familiarity with water supply system installation standards.
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, or at project sites as required.

Working hours: Monday to Saturday (8:30am - 5:00pm)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM4,000.00 per month
