Senior leadership position that advises stakeholders across business, operations, and regional teams to support responsible commercial growth. The role provides independent oversight, strengthens regulatory relationships, and embeds governance frameworks that promote long-term business sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee legal, compliance, and regulatory frameworks to support business operations.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial, partnership, and technology agreements while managing statutory and corporate legal records.
  • Manage regulatory relationships with BNM and act as the country's Compliance Officer/MLRO, ensuring full adherence to AML/CFT and reporting obligations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, risk controls, monitoring frameworks, and incident management processes.
  • Oversee non-financial risk, fraud governance, and operational resilience in alignment with regulatory expectations and internal risk appetite.
  • Provide regulatory and legal advice to stakeholders and deliver training to build strong compliance and risk culture across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or related discipline; legal practicing certificate is an advantage.
  • 10 years of experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory roles within fintech, financial services, e-commerce, or payments/e-money environments.
  • Strong knowledge of local regulatory frameworks including BNM requirements, AML/CFT, KYC/e-KYC, and licensing.
  • Experience serving as MLRO or managing AML responsibilities is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risk in a digital or technology-driven business environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to communicate regulatory issues clearly and influence decision-makers at all levels.
  • Able to balance commercial needs with regulatory expectations.
  • Cross-border or regional experience preferred.
