Machinist 1

Under close supervision, you will support basic CNC and manual machining operations, assist in machine setup, perform routine inspections, and learn key manufacturing processes. This role is designed to build foundational technical capabilities, safety and quality mindset, and workplace discipline essential for a career in advanced machining.

What will you be doing?
 

Basic Machining Operations

• Assist in basic CNC milling and turning operations after machine setup is completed by Trainer / Coach / Seniors

• Operate manual machines (e.g., drill press, grinder, basic lathe) under supervision to product simple parts

• Load / unload parts, perform deburring, and clean components

• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure process consistency and product quality

• Observe and learn how to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Maintain accuracy and consistency in part production, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards

Training and Continuous Improvement

• Attend and complete assigned technical classroom

• Participate actively in job rotation plans and hands-on assignments within designated areas / processes

• Take initiatives to lead and embrace continuous improvement initiatives and mindsets

• Learn machine safety procedures, PPE usage, and proper housekeeping standards

• Shadow Trainer / Coach / Seniors to observe complex setups and operations

• Maintain a learning log and competency progress chart as part of the training portfolio

Equipment Safety, Maintenance & Quality

• On time completion on regulatory training & SmartSolve training

• Support machine maintenance tasks like cleaning workstations, and refilling coolants under guidance

• Perform basic inspection tasks using calipers, gauges, or scales after proper training

• Report quality concerns or abnormalities to a Trainer / Coach / Seniors promptly

• Report any hazardous operations to Trainer / Coach / Seniors promptly

• Perform task as requested by Supervisor / Trainer / Coach / Seniors

What will you need to be successful?

• The role requires a minimum of high school education or equivalent, with no specific licenses, certifications, or prior experience needed. The candidate must be physically fit to stand and walk on the production floor for extended periods, operate tools or machines, and occasionally bend, reach, or crouch during training or setup.

• Consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory, and the individual should be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment. Good communication skills, including the ability to read, listen, and speak clearly, are essential. Travel requirements for the role are minimal, at less than 10%.
