Project Directors/Deputies

Client is a multinational PMC who are currently active in various data centre construction projects, hiring project directors/deputy directors for overall delivery of data centre construction projects in Johor Bahru and KL (either 1 location). Also hiring for CSA/MEP Senior Project Managers for data centre construction projects in Johor Bahru and KL (either 1 location).

Position 1: Project Directors/Deputies (Data Centre Construction Projects) - Johor Bahru/KL

• Strategic Leadership: Lead the overall delivery of the data center project, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
• Client Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring satisfaction and managing expectations throughout the project.
• Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory, environmental, and security standards specific to data center construction.
• Commercial Management: Oversee contract negotiations, procurement strategies, and financial performance of the project.
• Program Management: Direct the master schedule, critical path analysis, and integration of multiple workstreams (e.g., MEP, IT, security).
• Quality & Commissioning: Ensure the facility meets Tier standards (e.g., Uptime Institute) and is delivered defect-free, ready for operational handover.

Experience & Qualifications

• 10+ years of project management experience, with at least 3–5 years in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Must have end-to-end experience for at least two Data Centre projects, from early planning/schematic design to completion of Ready for Service (RFS).
• Degree in Engineering (CSA or MEP), or Construction Management.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of data center design, construction, and commissioning processes.

Leadership & Communication

• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage consultants and contractors.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and client-facing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including reporting and presentations.

Other Attributes

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and risk management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience in Southeast Asia or similar regional markets is a plus.

Position 2: Senior Project Managers (CSA) - Data Centre Construction - Johor Bahru/KL

Key Responsibilities:

Tender Management

• Lead the review and management of CSA tender scope, ensuring technical and programme compliance from tender issuance through to award.
• Coordinate with design consultants and internal stakeholders to align tender documentation with project requirements.
• Evaluate contractor submissions for compliance, value engineering opportunities, and programme feasibility.

Early Works Management

• Prepare and manage early works tender packages, including direct negotiations where applicable.
• Oversee execution of early works, including:
• Piling and pile caps
• In-ground services

Site setup and logistics

• Review and coordination of drawings and WS3-4 design drawings
• Ensure compliance with AHJ (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) requirements for commencement of works.

Project Leadership

• Lead CSA scope from pre-construction through to early works completion.
• Interface with client, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and quality.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Candidate Preferences:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on CSA works.
• Proven track record in early works, sub and superstructure works for large-scale data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of local authority processes, permitting, and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing early works packages and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and contract administration skills.
• Familiarity with technical trades including structural, civil, and architectural disciplines.

Position 3: Senior Project Managers (MEP) - Data Centre Construction - JB/KL

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning and Management: Developing and managing project schedules, budgets, and resources.

• Coordination: Ensuring seamless coordination between various MEP disciplines and with other project stakeholders.

• Technical Expertise: Providing technical input and guidance on MEP systems and design.

• Client Liaison: Acting as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring their needs are met.

• Budget Management: Monitoring project costs and taking action to stay within budget limitations.

• Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating potential risks that could impact the project.

• Quality Control: Ensuring that MEP systems are installed and commissioned according to design specifications and quality standards.

• Safety Compliance: Overseeing the implementation of safety procedures and regulations on the project site.

• Progress Reporting: Preparing and delivering regular project progress reports to stakeholders.

• Team Leadership: Leading and motivating the MEP project team.

• Contractor Management: Overseeing and managing MEP contractors, ensuring they adhere to contractual agreements and project requirements.

Preferences:

• More than 8 years of experience in MEP engineering/project management

• Degree/Master in M&E Engineering or relevant fields

• Data Centre MEP experience required

• MEP upgrade experience essential

• Client Management experience essential

• Project Management Office (PMO) experience is an advantage

• Cost, Programme, Construction, Quality and Risk management experience essential

• Statutory Code compliance understanding essential.

• Good knowledge of design and construction process
