We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Assistant Manager, HSE to join our team at Wasco Pipe Sabah Sdn. Bhd. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving, implementing, and continuously improving our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs. This role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of HSE standards, and the ability to engage effectively with all levels of staff, management, customers, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist, support, and monitor the implementation of the company's HSE strategy and objectives.
  • Ensure the workplace complies with all applicable OSHA standards, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe manufacturing environment.
  • Promote safety awareness through labels, signs, posters, floor markings, and color coding to identify potential hazards.
  • Maintain and communicate Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to all employees.
  • Document safety inspections, investigate incidents, and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Identify areas where additional training or certification is required to meet legal or best-practice standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of all accident and incident reports, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Advise management on HSE matters and ensure regular reporting and reviews of performance.
  • Establish and oversee HSE training programs to cultivate a strong safety culture within the organization.
  • Keep up to date with HSE legislation and ensure company policies remain compliant with regulatory requirements and client expectations.
  • Conduct HSE inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and recommend appropriate control measures and PPE standards.
  • Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses, ensuring findings are documented and shared.
  • Continuously enhance departmental performance in line with management's HSE objectives and policies.
  • Provide HSE guidance to management, contractors, and third-party partners during all phases of project execution.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly and annual HSE performance reports.
Requirements
  • Possess a valid DOSH "Green Book" (Registered Safety & Health Officer) – mandatory.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in HSE within manufacturing, oil & gas, or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, Factory & Machinery Act, and other applicable local HSE regulations.
  • Proven experience in conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
