Quantity Surveyor (QS) – Supermarket Projects

Department: Project Management

Location: Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur

Job Summary:
The Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing all aspects of the cost and contractual management for supermarket renovation, construction, and interior fit-out projects at NSK Grocer. The role includes cost estimation, tender evaluation, contract administration, and ensuring project financials align with budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities:


• Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities (BQ), and tender documents for renovation and fit-out works.


• Evaluate subcontractor quotations and conduct cost comparisons to support procurement decisions.


• Conduct pre- and post-contract administration including drafting and reviewing contracts, variation orders, and claims.


• Monitor and track project budgets, expenditures, and cash flow to ensure alignment with approved financial targets.


• Work closely with project and site teams to verify site measurements and validate progress claims.


• Conduct site visits and inspections to assess work progress and material usage.


• Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and consultants to negotiate pricing, terms, and cost control measures.


• Review and certify interim and final payment claims from contractors and vendors.


• Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and value engineering proposals to support project decision-making.


• Support procurement of materials and services through cost benchmarking and market research.


• Ensure compliance with internal financial procedures and relevant statutory regulations.

Requirements
:


• Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, or related field.


• Minimum 3–5 years of working experience in quantity surveying, preferably in retail, supermarket, or interior fit-out projects.


• Familiar with pre- and post-contract duties, cost control practices, and procurement processes.


• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract terms (e.g., PAM, JKR, etc.).


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and QS-related software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft).


• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.


• Able to work independently, handle multiple projects, and deliver under tight deadlines.


• Willing to travel and conduct site work as required.
