Summary

The Application Database Administrator (App DBA) is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of application databases. This includes managing application-related and security patches, monitoring database performance, planning housekeeping activities, and resolving issues that may impact business operations. The role also supports daily operational activities for GL, AP, FA, FAH, and other related systems, while working closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and security teams to ensure SLA compliance and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Database Performance & Stability

  2. Ensure peak performance of application databases from an application perspective.

  3. Monitor batch performance, especially during month-end, to ensure SLA compliance.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, long-running queries, and application-related database issues.

  5. Perform capacity planning and monitor space utilization.

  6. Patch Management & Maintenance

  7. Deploy, test, and validate application and database patches.

  8. Plan and execute housekeeping tasks to prevent system disruptions.

  9. Address database vulnerabilities and collaborate with Infrastructure & Security teams.

  10. Operational Support

  11. Provide support for Oracle Application Databases and any newly acquired systems.

  12. Monitor batch loads, ensure system stability, and respond to user issues promptly.

  13. Assist in DR (Disaster Recovery) activities, including simulations and actual events.

  14. Improvement & Enhancement

  15. Analyze system performance and propose enhancements or integration improvements.

  16. Provide recommendations for better database/application efficiency.

  17. Team Collaboration & Communication

  18. Share updates, findings, and technical issues with team members and supervisors.

  19. Work closely with developers and operational teams to ensure optimal database usage.

  20. Coach junior team members and encourage teamwork.

  21. Delivery, Quality & Documentation

  22. Ensure minimal application bugs and deliver consistent, high-quality output.

  23. Contribute to planning and documentation for budget-related matters.

Key Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree holder with experience in Oracle Enterprise Business Suite & Oracle SQL

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years working experience
  • Hands-on experience with:

i. Oracle EBS Database 12c, 19c and above

ii. Oracle SQL or equivalent

ii. Shell scripting
