In-House Legal Counsel
and play a key role in driving our legal, compliance, and governance initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory & Compliance

Provide expert legal advice on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and contractual matters to support MTDC's operations and strategic objectives.

Contracts & Documentation

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests.

Stakeholder Engagement

Liaise with external legal advisors, regulatory bodies, and government agencies as required.

Risk Management & Governance

Support internal stakeholders in managing legal risks, compliance, and governance frameworks, including ESG and anti-corruption standards.

Dispute Resolution & Litigation

Assist in dispute resolution, litigation matters, and provide legal guidance on settlements or proceedings.

Regulatory Monitoring

Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, analyse their implications, and advise on compliance strategies.


What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent; admission to the Malaysian Bar is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in corporate or commercial law, preferably within a corporate legal department or reputable law firm.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Sound understanding of corporate governance, ESG principles, and anti-corruption laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and deliver under pressure.


Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in corporate commercial, private equity, venture capital, or investment-related legal work.
  • Exposure to funding schemes, technology commercialisation, or innovation-driven enterprise.
  • Familiarity with ESG governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to engage with startups, SMEs, researchers, investors, and government stakeholders.
