Quantity Surveyor

The opportunity

Affinity Offshore Sdn Bhd, a leading specialist design firm, is seeking a proactive and dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in managing the financial aspects of our projects within the EPC sector, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and delivering high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for EPC projects.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing tender/bid documents, commercial evaluation, and recommending contract awards. Ensure all contractual agreements are adhered to.
• Monitor project budgets, ensuring that expenditures align with the approved budget and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Support the procurement process by evaluating supplier and contractor quotes and ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services.
• Verify and assess progress claims and invoices from contractors and suppliers, and process payments in line with contractual terms.
• Identify and assess potential financial risks on projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Ensuring that the insurance requirements for a project are properly identified, procured, documented, and fulfilled.
• Prepare regular cost reports, financial statements, and forecasts to keep the project team and management informed.
• Maintain all project documentation, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
• Manage contractual obligations to ensure that all terms and conditions of contracts are adhered to, including change orders and variations.
• Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

What we are looking for:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in the EPC sector or construction industry with an understanding of the construction and engineering procurement processes.
• Proficient in cost estimation, budgeting, financial and contract management.
• Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills, and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in using MS Office
• A diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
