Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant to join our KL team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing various financial tasks, ensuring a high-degree of accuracy and compliance with regulations. The Financial Accountant will play a key role in month-end closing, financial reporting, tax compliance and supporting continuous improvement across accounting processes and will report to our Group Finance Accountant.

Responsibilities

-Lead the month-end closing process, ensuring all financial activities are accurately recorded and reported within established timelines.

-Maintain timely and accurate records of financial transactions in compliance with IFRS and internal policies.

-Assist in preparation of consolidated financial reports.

-Perform variance and trend analysis on financial results to support management decision-making.

-Review and identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance accounting accuracy and efficiency.

-Manage the full spectrum of accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Purchase Orders (PO), General Ledger (GL), and reconciliations.

-Responsible for reconciling the accounts of the company they oversee, working closely with finance teams in other regions to ensure all records are accurate and aligned.

-Provide support for external audits, tax filings, and regulatory submissions, including those to LHDN, SSM, and other local authorities within the Group.

-Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new accounting systems and tools.

  • Stay updated on changes in Malaysian tax laws (e.g. Income Tax Act, E-Invoice, Withholding Tax) and implement tax-saving strategies where applicable.

-Supervise accounting staff, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.

-Liaise with the CompanySecretary on matters related to corporate governance and statutory fillings within the Group.

-Assist in the budget preparation and related financial planning activities.

-Handle any ad-hoc tasks as required to support the overall accounting function and organizational goals.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Possess a relevant degree or professional qualification (eg: ACCA/ CPA) in the Accounting and Finance field
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
  • Experience in the oil and gas exploration and production industry an advantage
  • Proven experience in process improvement and working within a fast-changing and dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Experience with MYOB accounting software is preferred
  • Good command of English and Malay, both written and oral
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation skills and analytical thinking
