The Product Management Engineer is responsible for managing the product portfolio and driving the success of assigned optical and mechanical product lines.

This role combines technical expertise, market insight, and business acumen, acting as the bridge between suppliers, sales teams, and customers.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering foundation, a good understanding of optics and mechanics, and the ability to translate technical features into customer value.

JOB DUTIES

  • Manage and develop assigned optical and mechanical product lines, from introduction to phase-out.
  • Work closely with principals/suppliers to define product specifications, pricing strategies, and availability.
  • Conduct market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and trend assessment to identify new opportunities.
  • Provide technical support to sales and customers, including product selection and application recommendations.
  • Prepare product documentation, datasheets, and training materials for internal and external use.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Application, and Engineering teams to align technical capabilities with market needs.
  • Collaborate with assembly and production teams to support customization, product validation, and quality improvements.
  • Participate in supplier meetings, product evaluations, and factory audits when required.
  • Monitor inventory levels, cost structures, and product performance metrics.
  • Drive new product introduction (NPI) and ensure successful launch through internal communication and training.
  • Support marketing activities, including trade shows, customer visits, and promotional initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in product management, technical sales, or application engineering, preferably in optical, mechanical, or precision engineering industries.
  • Experience working with international suppliers and customers (Europe, U.S., and Asia).
  • Familiarity with optical components, mechanical parts, and system integration processes.
  • Experience in data-driven analysis and product lifecycle management (PLM) preferred.
  • Strong technical understanding of optical and mechanical systems and their applications.
  • Knowledge of product management frameworks, including lifecycle, positioning, and pricing strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ERP/CRM systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Experience with Zemax or other optical design software is an advantage.
  • Additional qualifications in Marketing, Business Management, or Data Analytics will be an added advantage
